Slovick Reaches 100 Wins in Senior Day Victory over Slippery Rock Wrestling Club

Bradford, PA -- The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford wrestling team hosted its final home match of the season on Saturday, as it took on Slippery Rock Wrestling Club on Senior Day. The Panthers won the exhibition match 40-13, while D.J. Slovick became the first Pitt-Bradford Wrestler to reach 100 career wins.

Before the start of the action, the Panthers took a few moments to recognize three seniors, Raymond Worsen, Cameron Carter-Green, and D.J. Slovick. In his four seasons with the Panthers, Worsen has totaled 50 wins, including 34 pins. He has also won 34 dual matches. Carter-Green has wrestled for three seasons with the Panthers after missing a season due to injury. He has a 37-17 record, with 16 pins. He is 19-6 in dual matches. He was the AMCC Champion at 285 in 2023-24. Slovick is now 100-41 in his career with the Panthes. He has 52 pins, 15 major decisions, and 8 tech falls. He is 44-9 in dual matches for the Panthers. He has made the podium twice at NCAA Qualifiers, taking 5th as a junior and 7th as a sophomore.

The Panthers started the match strongly, easily winning the first two bouts. Cade Stern pinned his opponent at 125 in 2:51. Mike Worsen followed that with a dominating 17-0 tech fall victory. The Panthes dropped the next two classes with a forfeit and a 6-4 decision loss, before they secured the win with a forfeit win for Worsen at 157, a 16-0 technical fall win for Peyton Mitchell, and the milestone-reaching pin for Slovick at 174 (3:30) Chris Tigar fell at 184 before Gavin Thompson and Carter-Green picked up forfeit wins in the final two weight classes.

With the match counting as an exhibition, the Panthers' dual record remains at 8-5. Individual wrestling results will count towards each competitor's record. The Panthers will beback in action next weekend, as they will wrestle as individuals at the Jamestown Open. The tournament will begin at 8:30 a.m. in Jamestown Community College's Physical Education Complex.
