WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. -- Sam Colebert represented the University of Pittsburgh at Bradford wrestling team deep in the NCAA Division III Southeast Regional Saturday at Lycoming, placing sixth in the heavyweight class.
"Sam did an amazing job and in this regional tournament," Head Coach Colin Johnston said. "For Sam to take sixth place in the toughest weight class is impressive. I tip my hat to Sam for having such a great year and moving this program in the right direction."
Friday, Colebert wrestled his way to the consolation bracket quarterfinals, advancing to Saturday's action.
The winner of the consolation bracket finishes third and advances to the NCAA Division III Championships.
Saturday, Colebert won his consolation quarterfinals match over Alex Brunner from Southern Va. by way of a pin in 3:30, keeping his hopes of an NCAA qualification alive.
