Panthers Fall to Seahawks in Regular Season Finale

St. Mary's City, MD -- The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford men's lacrosse team traveled to Maryland on Saturday to take on St. Mary's in its regular-season finale. The Panthers struggled to gain their footing and never recovered from a slow start, falling 27-1.

The hosts went on the attack from the opening draw, but Hunter Shank made 3 early saves to keep the game scoreless. They finally broke through after 3:36, scoring after a Pitt-Bradford turnover. The Seahawks dominated possession for the remainder of the first, keeping the Panthers trapped in their own end as they went on to score 8 times in the quarter.

Pitt-Bradford's struggles continued in the 2nd, as they were limited to just 5 shots in the first half. The hosts scored 8 times before Luke Amberman put the Panthers' first shot on target in the half, with just seconds left on the clock. Shank made 5 more saves in the period, bringing his total to 11 for the game.

The Panthers finally broke through in the 3rd. After three early St. Mary's shots missed the target, and Shank added another save, the Panthers finally maintained some offensive zone time. The Panthers managed 4 straight shots in the quarter, scoring on the third. Logan Watts caught a pass from Christian Beasley behind the net and quickly found Evan Hawley in front of the goal. Hawley caught the pass and bounced a shot into the goal at the far post. The Seahawks regained momentum after the score, matching the goal after 2 mintues. They tacked on 5 more in the quarter, sending the game to the final period with the Panthers trailing 22-1.

Evan Stack relieved Shank to begin the 4th, and got off to a good start, saving 4 shots in his first 5 mintues of action. The Panthers were able to put three shots on goal in the quarter, while the Seahawks tacked on 5 more goals to bring the final score to 27-1.

Evan Hawley scored the only goal of the game for the Panthers, converting on his only shot of the game. Logan Watts picked up the assist on the Panther goal, while also taking 2 shots. Luke Amberman led the team with 3 shots on goal, while Christian Beasley had 4 attempts, with one on target. Hunter Shank played the first 45 minutes of the game, making 15 saves. Evan Stack made 6 saves in one quarter of action.
