Panthers Close SUNYAC Championships in 9th

Buffalo, NY -- The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford women's swim team closed out its fourth and final day of the SUNYAC Swimming Championships in Buffalo on Saturday. The Panthers had four swimmers qualify for finals, earning 31 points for the second day in a row, finishing the championship meet in 9th place.

The Panthers had all 5 of their swimmers race in preliminary rounds spanning 4 different events. A relay team also competed in the 400-yard freestyle relay.

Emma Slocum started the women off in the 1650-yard freestyle. She placed 16th with a time of 21:18.73, earning the Panthers first point of day four.

The Panthers had two swimmers in the 100-yard freestyle preliminary round. Carly Evers qualified for finals and placed 15th overall with a time of 59.96, beating her seeding time by more than a second. Avery Yard placed 27th in the preliminary in 1:10.17.

Isabella Cercone qualified for the 2nd heat in the 200-yard breaststroke. She earned the Panthers four points by placing 13th with a final time of 2:44.89.

Madison Foote finished the individual events for the Panthers by qualifying for the 200-yard butterfly stroke's 2nd heat. She finished the race in 15th with a time of 3:00.37.

The Panthers ended the final night of Championships in the 400-yard freestyle relay. The team of Isabella Cercone, Carly Evers, Emma Slocum, and Avery Yard finished in 8th with a time of 4:09.79. Cercone started the race with the team's fastest split of 59.94. Evers followed, swimming a 1:00.97 leg. Slocum then finished her leg in 1:01.04, and Yard concluded the race for the Panthers with a split of 1:07.84. This final relay time beat their seeding time by 15 seconds.

The Panthers finish the meet in 9th place with 110 points.
