Alfred, NY -- The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford women's swimming team was back in action on Saturday, taking on Alfred University in a dual meet. The Panthers came away with four victories despite falling to the Saxons 181-49.
Isabella Cercone started her day in the 100-yard breaststroke, where she finished 2nd. She posted a time of 1:14.50 seconds, which was just 1.64 seconds off the pace. She followed that up with a dominating win in the 200-yard breaststroke. She won the race with a time of 2:46.96, which was 33.66 seconds ahead of her opponent. In her final race of the day, Cercone was once again victorious, this time winning the 200-yard individual medley. She won the race by less than a second, posting a time of 2:29.25.
Sophomore Carly Evers matched Cercone's effort, also coming away with two wins and a runner-up. She began with a victory in the 100-yard backstroke. Her time of 1:08.61 was 5.72 seconds ahead of the field. Evers followed that with a win in the 50-yard freestyle. She took the sprint by 1.73 seconds with a time of 27.52. She took 2nd in the 200-yard backstroke, finishing in 2:29.67.s
Avery Yard added two 4th-place and a 5th-place finish in three freestyle events. She was 4th in the 200 (2:42.47), and 100 (1:11.99), while taking 5th in the 50 (31.95)
The Panthers will bring their regular season to a close next Saturday, when they host Penn State-Altoona in Duke Aquatic Center for Senior Day.
