Meadville, PA -- The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford women's swimming team was back in action on Saturday, taking on Allegany and Franciscan in a tri-meet, hosted by Allegany. The Panthers were unable to keep up with either team, falling 135-43 to Allegany and 96-66 to Fransiscan.
The Panthers got out to a decent start, taking second in the medley relay. They finished with a time of 2:09.41, 9 seconds after the winners, Allegany, but ahead of Franciscan, who was disqualified. Emma Slocum started with a 33.49-second backstroke leg, and then Isabella Cercone followed in the breaststroke, posting a 33.32-second split. Madison Foote completed the butterfly leg in 34.88 seconds, while Catrly Evers finished the race with the freestyle, finishing in 27.72 seconds.
Isabella Cercone led the Panthers with 13 individual points, picking up the sole event win for the Panthers. She was 1st in the 100-yard freestyle, posting a time of 59.09 seconds to win by 1.69 seconds. She also took 2nd in the 100-yard breaststroke. She finished in 1:14.43, 1.88 seconds after the winner.
Carly Evers had a runner-up finish in the 100-yard backstroke, finishing in 1:10.51, just over 2 seconds after the winner. She also took 3rd in the short 50-yard freestyle. She finished the sprint in 28.41 seconds, finishing .92 seconds after the winner.
Emma Slocum took 3rd in the 500, finishing in 6:29.32. She added a 5th-place finish in the 200-yard freestyle, posting a time of 2:26.74.
In addition to her relay split, Madison Foote had two 4th-place finishes. She was 4th in the 400-yard IM, posting a time of 6:11.38. She was also 4th in the 100-yard backstroke, finishing in 1:21.26.
Avery Yard finished 4th in the 100-yard free and 8th in the 50-yard free, while Lacey Rodgers had a pair of 6th-place finishes in the 100-yard breaststroke and freestyle, and a 9th-place finish in the 50-yard freestyle.
The Panthers drop to 0-5 in dual matchups this season. They will be back in action next weekend, when they compete in the three-day Blue Devil Invitational, hosted by Fredonia State. They will begin preliminary rounds on Friday, Nov. 21st at 10:00 a.m., with Day 1 finals beginning at 5:00 p.m.
