Women's Swimming Primed to Begin Season

Bradford, Pa. -- The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford women's swim team is preparing for a return to competition as their season begins this weekend.

The Panthers saw some improvement in their 2021-22 campaign as they were able to pick up two dual meet victories, getting in the win column for the first time since 2017-18. Bailey Fedak had a strong season in the sprint events for the Panthers, winning races in the 50 and 100 freestyle at multiple events during the season. Adriana Gallas improved her times in distance events while Anna Killingbeck and Macy Petersen had strong debut seasons.

Moving into 2022-23, the Panthers will combine the experience of Gallas, Fedak, Petersen, and Killingbeck with some promising new team members. "Our returners have a diverse set of skills and will be critical in leading our new team members," said head coach Chelsea Schwab. They will be joined by newcomers Madison Foote and Isabella Cercone who will add depth in mid-distance and sprint events, while specializing in backstroke (Foote) and breaststroke (Cercone).

"We are looking forward to a highly competitive season," said Schwab. "Our eyes are set toward the goals we have set for championships while also aiming for individual records."

The Panthers begin their season on Saturday, October 8th when they travel to Fredonia for a dual match. Their first home match is scheduled for Thursday, November 3rd at 5:00 p.m. in the Duke Aquatic Center.
