Stowe Scores as Panthers are Dropped by Hawks

Buffalo, NY -- The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford women's soccer team hit the road for the final time in its 2025 campaign on Wednesday, as it traveled to Hilbert for an AMCC tilt. The Panthers were blitzed early and often, allowing 6 early goals on the way to a 7-1 defeat to the Hawks.

The Panthers had a sluggish start in the rain, and Hilbert responded with deadly efficiency. They needed just 92 seconds to score the opener, and then went on to score four more times on their first five shots to take a 4-0 advantage after just 5 minutes and 35 seconds. Pitt-Bradford made four substitutions, but the Hawks continued to attack, forcing goalkeepr Josie Orinko into a pair of saves, while also tacking on two more goals by the 18-minute mark.

The Panthers were able to force some breaks in the attack and create some opportunities of their own. Kaylee Leeper took the Panthers'  first shot of the game, an effort wide of the net in the 11th minute, and then Tessa Duchi put her first shot on target in the 13th. The Pitt-Bradford defense settled in after the 6th goal, limiting the Hawks to just one more shot in the first half. In the same span, the Panthers registered two shots, one each from Duchi and Chloe Sander, with both of the efforts missing the target.

The hosts came out of the locker room on the attack once more, scoring their 7th goal of the game 86 seconds after the restart. Gianna Gomez took the next three shots of the game, missing the net with the first, but forcing a save from the Hilbert keeper on the next two. In the 59th minute, Duchi put another shot on target, and while her effort was saved, it resulted in a Panther corner kick. Duchi stepped up to deliver the resulting set piece and placed a cross into a dangerous area. Riley Stowe was able to win first contact on the cross and deflected the ball into the goal for her first of the season. The tally was the last goal of the game, as Orinko made one more save while Duchi and Alexis Rohr each had shots saved later in the half.

Riley Stowe scored the lone goal for the Panthers, deflecting in a corner kick. The goal was not only the first of the year for the senior, but also the first in over two years as she has worked back from a knee injury in her sophomore campaign. Tessa Duchi led Pitt-Bradford with 5 shots, 3 on goal, while Gianna Gomez took 4 with one on target. Alexis Rohr also put a shot on goal in the loss. Josie Orinko made 3 saves in the Pitt-Bradford net.

The loss drops Pitt0Bradford to 1-10-1 on the season with a 0-6-1 mark in AMCC play. It also mathematically eliminates them from postseason contention. They will be back in action on Saturday, Oct. 25th, when they host Mount Aloysius in their season finale. Kickoff is slated for 1:00 p.m. at Rathburn Family Field.
