Bradford, PA -- The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford women's soccer team returned to its home field on Saturday to host the Pitt-Greensburg Bobcats in an AMCC matchup. The Panthers limited the high-powered Bobcats early, but ran out of steam and lost 9-0.
The visitors controlled nearly all of the possession in the first half, keeping the Panthers pinned back in their own defensive end. Madelyn Seeley made a pair of early stops in the Pitt-Bradford goal, but in the 11th minute, the Bobcats used a through ball to beat the high line and open the scoring with a fast break. The Panthers remained within one for the next 12 minutes, keeping Pitt-Greensburg at bay with the offsides trap, but eventually got caught out for the second goal 24 minutes in.
After the Bobcats took a 3-0 lead in the 31st, Seeley made another two saves, but then was beaten twice within a minute to see the deficit grow to five in the 39th. Pitt-Greensburg nearly added a sixth in the half, but Seeley got some help from the woodwork to send the game to the break with Pitt-Bradford trailing 5-0.
Following the restart, the Panthers moved right into the opponent's end, as Tessa Duchi dribbled through the defense and released the Panthers' first shot towards the target after just 24 seconds. Unfortunately, the visitors quickly countered and pushed the lead to six with a goal 50 seconds later. Pitt-Greensburg added another off a corner kick in the 57th before Seeley was able to make another save. Duchi carved out space for her second shot of the game in the 69th, but it would be the last time the Panthers managed a shot in the game. The Bobcats scored two more goals in the final 20 minutes to bring the final tally to 9.
Madelyn Seely finished the game with 6 saves for the Panthers. Tessa Duchi took 2 shots in the game, both missing the target.
The loss drops Pitt-Bradford to 1-7 on the season and 0-3 in AMCC play. They will be back in action on Wednesday, Oct. 8th, when they host Washington Adventist at Rathburn Family Field. Kickoff is set for 3:00 p.m.
