Bradford, PA -- The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford women's lacrosse team saw five of its players recognized by the AMCC after a successful inaugural season that saw the team reach the AMCC Championship Game.
Addison Molampy, Christina Abel, and Makartnee Mortimer were all selected as first-team all-conference performers, while Olivia Garcia and Haley Carlo were named to the second team. Molampy was also selected as the AMCC's Newcomer of the Year.
Molampy, a freshman attacker from Wallingford, Conn., led the Panther offense this season. She finished her debut campaign 2nd in the AMCC in goals with 45, points with 67, and assists with 22. She converted on 46% of her 97 shots and put 78.4% of her attempts on target. Molampy also registered 17 caused turnovers and 47 ground balls. She scored a season-high 7 goals twice, in wins over Hilbert and Warren Wilson. She was named AMCC Offensive Player of the Week two times.
Joining Molampy on the first team was fellow freshman Christina Abel, a midfielder from York, Pa. Abel scored 32 goals and added 9 assists in her freshman campaign. She was 6th in the conference in goals and 5th in total points. Abel put 72.2% of her shots on target and scored at a 33% clip. She tallied 55 ground balls (3rd in AMCC), 51 draw controls (2nd in AMCC), and 12 caused turnovers. She was named AMCC Offensive Player of the Week one time.
Junior Makartnee Mortimer, a defender from Westfield, N.Y., was the final Pitt-Bradford player to make the first team. Mortimer led the Pitt-Bradford defense in its inaugural season. She was 2nd in the AMCC in caused turnovers with 37 and 5th in ground balls at 54. She also registered 1 assist and had 4 shots. She was named AMCC Defensive Player of the Week twice.
A pair of attackers were also recognized by the AMCC, making the 2nd All-Conference team.
Olivia Garcia, a junior from Aurora, Col. scored 26 goals and added 4 assists for the Panthers this season. She put 87.1% of her shots on target and scored at a 53.1% clip. Garcia also tallied 25 ground balls and 5 caused turnovers. She scored a season high 6 goals in a win at Elmira.
Haley Carlo, a junior from Carlisle, Pa., scored 14 goals in 13 games for the Panthers this season. She also registered 2 assists, 31 ground balls, and 8 caused turnovers.
The Panthes went 10-7 in their inaugural season with a 3-1 mark in AMCC play. They finished the season as the Co-Regular Season Champions and won the program's first-ever playoff game.
