Reading, PA -- The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford women's bowling team wrapped up the second AMCC Round Robin of the season on Saturday, as they bowled two final matches in Reading. The Panthers had a tall task, facing the top teams in the conference, and lost both games. They fell to Saint Vincent 890-654 and William Smith 913-771.
Pitt-Bradford had a slow start to their first match of the day and paid for it, losing to Saint Vincent 890-654. Erin Wales led the Panthers with a score of 160, while Sara Paryz had the next best score at 142. Emma Pablic and Katherine Codgill were five pins apart at 128 and 123, respectively, while Natalie Burrows rounded out the scoring at 101.
In their final match of the Round Robin, the Panthers took on the eventual winners of the event, William Smith. The Panthers battled back and posted a strong score, but could not keep pace with the Herons, who won 913-771. Pablic posted the Panthers' best score of the day at 189. Wales secured a strong performance, increasing her pinfall and bowling a 170. Codgill finished at 138, while Burrows and Paryz finished just behind her, tied at 137.
Sara Paryz finished as the Panthers' top bowler with a total pinfall of 954 and an average of 159.00. She was 14th. Erin Wales was 6 pins behind her at 948 and 158.00. Emma Pablic moved to 17th at 899 and 149.83. Natalie Burrows (819, 136.50) and Katherine Codgill (806, 134.33) just missed out on top-20 finishes at 22nd and 23rd overall.
The Panthes finish the AMCC Regular season 2-10 overall and have finished in 6th place, giving them a spot in the AMCC Championship Tournament. They will eventually face #3 Alvernia later in March. Pitt-Bradford will be back in action next weekend, when it competes in the Niagara Spring Classic.
