Reading, PA -- The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford women's bowling team returned to the lanes on Saturday for the Second AMCC Round Robin of the season. Bowling in the traditional format, the Panthers went 1-3 with a win over Pitt-Greensburg and losses to Hilbert, Alvernia, and Penn State-Behrend.
The Panthers kicked the day off with a match against Hilbert. The Panthers posted a strong score, but fell just short, losing their closest match of the day 777-772. Sara Paryz led the way at 176, while Katherine Cogdill finished at 159 and Emma Pablic rolled a 157.
Pitt-Bradford took on the hosts, Alvernia, in their second match, but dropped another close match, this time falling 791-779. Erin Wales bowled the best game of the day for the Panthers, posting a score of 205. Paryz posted a score of 175, while Pablic had the third score for the Panthers at 147.
Match three saw the Panthers pick up their first win of the event, as they defeated Pitt-Greensburg 747-603. Paryz finished with the high score once again, as she bowled a 167. Natalie Burrows stepped up with a score of 156, while Wales bowled a 149.
The Panthers closed day one of the Round Robin against Penn State-Behrend, falling 801-703. Paryz led the team at 157, while Burrows was 7 pins back at 150. Pablic had the third best score for Pitt-Bradford at 143.
On the day, Sara Paryz led the team with an average of 168.75. She had the 7th highest pinfall at 675. Erin Wales was just behind her with an average of 154.50 and 618 pins. Pablic was 10th in pinfall with an average of 145.50, while Burrows was a spot lower at 578 and 145.25. Katherine Cogdill rounded out the scoring with an average score of 136.25 and a total pinfall of 573.
The Panthers will be back in action tomorrow, as they will finish the round robin with two more matches. They will take on Saint Vincent and William Smith with action beginning at 9:30 a.m. at Hiester Lanes in Reading.
