Panthers Wrap Up USBC Weekend with 8th Place Finish at Western PA Baker Shootout

North Versailles, PA -- The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford women's bowling team completed its weekend of USBC competition on Sunday, finishing in 8th place at the Western PA Baker Shootout with a total pinfall of 3936.

In the event, teams bowled 28 Baker bowling games with standings decided by total pinfall. 

The Panthers started strong, posting their best score of the day with a 196 in the opening game. They finished the first group of four games with a score of 650, which put them in 2nd place. They could not replicate their score in the second grouping, posting a 4-game total of 542, which dropped them to 8th. The Panthers followed that up with scores of 534 and 555 in the next two rounds, remaining in 8th.

In the 5th round, the Panthers surged back above 600 pins, posting a pinfall of 630. They remained in 8th, but trimmed their deficit to 7th place by 42 pins. They lost their momentum in round 5, posting a score of 511 pins. The Panthers finished the day with a score of 514 to put their final total at 3936.

The Panthes will return to NCAA action next weekend, when they head to Penn State-Behrend for a non-conference dual match with the Lions. The action will begin at 1:00 p.m. at Eastland Bowl in Erie.
