Panthers Wrap Up Fall, Swept by Penn State-Behrend

Bradford, PA -- The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford women's bowling team closed the fall portion of its schedule on Saturday with a dual match against Penn State-Behrend. The Panthers bowled two traditional and one Baker bowling match against the Lions, losing all three.

In the first game, the Panthers put together one of their best traditional matches of the season, but could not keep up with the Lions and fell 824-876. Sara Paryz bowled in the anchor spot and led the team with a score of 195. Erin Wales was just behind her at 185. Emma Pablic bowled a 156, while Natalie Burrows finished at 148, and Katherine Cogdill posted a score of 140.

Pitt-Bradford had another strong performance in game two, but once again fell 800-833. Burrows had the high game for the Panthers with a 193. Paryz had another good game, posting a score of 181. Wales and Pablic were one pin apart at 153 and 152, while Cogdill finished the scoring at 121. 

The match came to a close with a Baker match decided by total pinfall. The Panthers won the first of five games, but ultimately fell 764-854. They started strong with a 165-134, and then dropped game two 136-174. They posted their best score of the match in game three at 185, but were bested by the Lions, who posted a 201. The Panthers fell further behind with a 151-189 loss in game 4 and then wrapped up the match with a 127-156 loss in game 5.

The Panthers will be off through Finals Week and the semester break, before returning to action in the new year. They will be back in action on Saturday, January 10th, at the Pitt/Ohio Collegiate Challenge in Pittsburgh.
