Erie, PA -- The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford women's bowling team completed play at the first AMCC Round Robin of the season on Sunday, going 1-2 on the second day to finish in 6th overall. The Panthers fell 883-842 to William Smith and 842-816 to Alvernia, but picked up their first win of the season over Pitt-Greensburg 767-551.
The Panthers started the day with their best score of the day, but fell to William Smith 883-842. They won the first game 179-165, but fell behind after dropping game two 208-154. They cut into the deficit with a 195-173 in game three, but dropped game four 154-143. They headed into the decisive 5th game trailing by 29, but fell short, losing the game 183-171.
For the second match of the day, the Panthers took on Alvernia. The Panthers dropped game one 164-183, but then battled back to take the lead with a 191-179 win in game two and a 196-161 win in game three. Unfortunately, they lost momentum and dropped game four 117-181. Pitt-Bradford emerged victorious in game 5, but could not make up the required 28-pin difference, winning 148-138.
To close the event, the Panthers breezed to a win over Pitt-Greensburg. They won all 5 games in the match with the final score finishing at 767-551. They opened with a dominant 169-90 win in the first and then extended their lead through the middle games, winning by 7, 26, and 61 pins. They closed with a 149-126 win in the fifth.
The Panthers finish the round robin 1-5 and are in 6th place after accumulating 4,820 pins over 6 matches. They will have one more event in the fall portion of their season, as the Panthers will host Penn State-Behrend in a dual match on Saturday, Dec. 6th at Byllye Lanes in Bradford.
