Latrobe, PA -- The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford women's bowling team was back in action this weekend at the Brother Lacy Tournament, hosted by Saint Vincent. The Panthers finished 11th, dropping four matches to go along with a bye.
The Panthers kicked off the event with a matchup against Alvernia, falling 792-718. Erin Wales had the Panthers' best score of the day, finishing at 191. Natalie Burrows bowled a 154, while Sara Paryz finished 6 pins behind at 148. Jasmine Smith posted a 123, and Katherine Cogdill rounded out the scoring at 102.
Pitt-Bradford struggled in their second match, losing to Ursuline 790-689. Wales had the high score once again for the Panthers, posting a 164. Paryz and Burrows finished a pin apart at 146 and 147, while Smith bowled a 120. Cogdille tacked 10 pins onto her game one score to finish at 112.
The Panthers had their best score of the day in game 3, but unfortunately could not top Muskingum, falling 781-721. Paryz led the Panthers with a 164, while Burrows was just behind her at 161. Wales posted a 158 to round out the top 3. Ella Card stepped into the lineup for the match and bowled a 142, while Cogdill dropped to 96.
The Panthers took on the hosts, Saint Vincent, in their 4th of the day, but could not keep up with the Bearcats, losing 847-690. Card had the high game for Pitt-Bradford, posting her best score of the day at 158. Wales dropped down to 147, while Burrows and Paryz stayed close, posting scores of 138 and 136. Smith re-entered the lineup for the match and bowled a 111.
The Panthers were the odd team out in the 5th match of the day, and bowled a bye match with no opponent. They posted a final score of 713. Burrows finished at the top for Pitt-Bradford, finishing at 166. Wales returned to her average with a 160, while PAryz finished at 149. Card bowled a 133, while Cogdill finished the scoring at 105.
Erin Wales had the highest average for the Panthers, posting a 164.0, which was the 19th best in the event. Natalie Burrows and Sara Paryz finished in 27th and 28th. Burrows averaged 153.0 pins per match, while Burrows was just behind her at 148.8. Ella Card averaged 144.33 over 3 matches and had the 54th-best pinfall. Jasmine Smith averaged 118 over 3 games, while Katherine Cogdill averaged 103.75 over 4.
The Panthers will be right back on the lanes tomorrow, as they will compete in the Unicorn Invitational in Pittsburgh.
