Panthers Return to Action at Niagara Brunswick Open

Niagara Falls, NY -- The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford women's bowling team was back in action on Saturday, opening up play at the Niagara Brunswick Open with five traditional matches. The Panthers struggled to keep up with their high-powered opponents, dropping all five of the matches.

The Panthers began the day with a matchup against Daemen, losing 903-714. Erin Wales led the way with a 184, while Jasmine Smith followed with a 147. Katherine Cogdill posted a 136, and Natalie Burrows finished just behind her at 130. Sara Paryz rounded out the team at 117.

In their second match of the day, Pitt-Bradford took on fellow AMCC member William Smith, dropping the match 847-706. Patyz posted the high score at 179, with Wales following at 158. Burrows posted a solid score of 141, while Smith and Codgill rolled a 116 and 112, respectively.

The Panthers posted their best score of the day in game 3, but still fell to DII D'Youville 851-762. Erin Wales had her high score of the season with a 195. Ella Card and Emma Pablic stepped in for their first matches of the day and posted scores of 146 and 141. Natalie Burrows rolled a 143, while Paryz posted a 137. 

Pitt-Bradford took on Penn State-Behrend in game 4 and struggled to maintain their momentum, falling 819-639. Wales had another high score for the Panthers at 160, while Card finished at 132. Paryz posted a 121, while Pablic finished at 118 and Burrows at 108. 

To close the day, the Panthers faced a DI opponent, this time falling to Mercyhurst 880-643. Paryz led the way at 145, while Wales took second at 135. Pablic was just behind Wales at 130, and Cogdill returned to the lineup with a 126. Card rounded out the scoring at 107.

On the day, two Panthers bowled all 5 games. Erin Wales bowled leadoff and had the high average for Pitt-Bradford at 166.4. Sara Paryz also bowled all 5 with an average of 139.8. Natalie Burrows bowled 4 of the matches and finished with an average of 130.5. Katherine Cogdill bowled games 1, 2, and 5, while Emma Pablic and Ella Card each participated in the last 3. Pablic led the group at 129.6, while Card was just over a pin behind at 128.3. Cogdill averaged 124.6 over the three games. Jasmine Smith bowled in the first two matches and had an average of 131.5.

The Panthers have one more day at the Brunswick Open, and will compete in Baker Bowling tomorrow, beginning at 10:00.
