Panthers Finish 3rd at AMCC Championships, Garvey Named to All-Tourney Team

Beaver Falls, Pa. -- The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford bowling team's season came to an end on Saturday as they finished in 3rd place at the AMCC Championship Tournament.

Facing elimination, the Panthers were able to start their day with a 2-0 victory over #4 Penn State-Behrend before falling in a rematch with #2 Medaille 2-0 to bring their season to a close.

Against Penn State-Behrend, the Panthers jumped ahead immediately, defeating the Lions 902-780 in the traditional format match. Brookelyn Garvey paced the team, posting a game-high score of 214. Megan Schwab rolled her best game of the tournament, finishing with a 205. Jordyn Graham had the third-best score for the Panthers finishing with a 183, while Sarah Newland and Ekaterina Wilson posted scores of 158 and 142 to round out the scoring.

Pitt-Bradford put away the Lions in the Baker match, winning with a total pinfall score of 900-721. They jumped ahead with a 201-131 win in game 1 and then extended their lead over the next two matches, winning 192 to 125 and 180-116. They pushed their advantage over 200 pins with a 181-157 victory in the 4th game before closing with a 146-192 loss. Jordyn Graham had the best pin per frame average in the match, scoring 20.1 pins per frame. Ekaterina Wilson had a strong match with a 19.2 pin per frame average. Garvey and Schwab also had strong matches averaging 18.0 and 18.1 pins per game.

After staving off elimination in the 3rd round, the Panthers faced a tough matchup with Medaille in the elimination bracket final. Pitt-Bradford was unable to maintain their momentum from the first match of the day as they lost both games of the match to lose 2-0.

The Panthers lost the opening traditional match to the Mavericks by a score of 941-777. Brookelyn Garvey continued her strong traditional format play, posting a final score of 201. Following a break from their first match, the rest of the PAntehrs were unable to get back into rhythm, finishing below their normal averages. Sarah Newland had the second-best score in the match with a 161. Megan Schwab finished with a 147, while Jordyn Graham was just behind her at 143. Wilson rounded out the scoring with a 125.

Needing a win in Baker to extend their season, the Panthers struggled to keep up with the Mavericks, losing by a total pinfall of 876-773. Jordyn Graham averaged 17.0 pins per frame, while Garvey and Newland were just behind her at 16.6 and 16.0. Schwab had an average of 14.8 pins per frame and Wilson rounded out the scoring at 12.9.

After the Panthers were eliminated, Brookelyn Garvey was named to the All-Tournament team. Garvey averaged 202.5 pins per match in the 4 traditional matches and had a Baker average of 17.15 pins per frame.

The Panthers complete their season with a 3rd place finish, their best since taking third in 2017-18.
