Panthers Take 2nd at AMCC Round Robin #2

Bradford, Pa. -- The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford women's bowling team finished day two of the second AMCC Round Robin 3-0 to secure a 2nd place finish at the event, and the 3rd overall seed in the upcoming AMCC Championship Tournament.

Following an opening-round bye, the Panthers got off to a strong start, defeating Penn State-Altoona 839-682. Brookelyn Garvey was lights out in the match for the Panthers, posting a 240 in the match, one of the highest single-game outputs of the event. Jordyn Graham and Meghan Schwab posted scores of 161 and 157, while Olivia Shultz stepped in for the Panthers for her first appearance of the event and rolled a 147.

The Panthers breezed through their second match of the day and secured their second-place finish with an 838-688 win over Mount Aloysius. Meghan Schwab took the lead in this match, recording her highest score of the event with a 217. Brookelyn Garvey posted a score of 178, while Sarah Newland bowled a 167.

The Panthers closed the event with a tight 800-790 victory over Penn State-Behrend, which locked up the 3rd overall seed for the AMCC Bowling Championships. Jordyn Graham led the Panthers with a high score of 198 in the match. Meghan Schwab and Sarah Newland both finished with scores of 158, and Brookelyn Garvey came through in the clutch out of the anchor position to secure the win. She converted a pressure-packed spare in the 10th frame which evened the match at 190 and won the match for the Panthers with a strike on the bonus ball.

Garvey had the high average for the day, as she finished with 189.3 pins per match. For the tournament, she had the 2nd highest total pinfall with 1,462 and averaged 182.75 pins per match. Meghan Schwab averaged 177.33 pins per game on day two, bringing her event average up to 160.00. Jordyn Graham was also able to finish with a top total pinfall, as her 1,437 pins were the 5th best total of the event. She averaged 179.63 pins per match for the tournament and 166.33 for the day. Sarah Newland averaged 153.00 pins per match on day two, while Ekaterina Wilson posted a score of 136 in both matches she bowled in for the day. Newland's event average was 164.00 pins per match and Wilson's was 135.71.

The Panthers will return to the lanes on Sunday, February 13th, when they travel to Latrobe to bowl in the Brother Lacy Tournament, hosted by Saint Vincent College.
