Panthers Finish Season with Win over Bobcats

Greensburg, PA -- The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford women's basketball team brought its 2025-26 campaign to a close on Saturday, finishing the season with a win. The Panthers held off a late Pitt-Greensburg charge to win 63-53 on the road.

The beginning of the game showcased a great display of sportsmanship, as each team allowed a senior battling an injury to score an uncontested layup. Abby Goss received the basket for the Panthers, bringing her collegiate career to a close. After the exchange, the hosts scored back-to-back baskets, but the Panthers answered and outscored them 13-3 over the last seven minutes of the quarter. Ella Gettings made a layup and a free throw to start the run, before Raquel Sewell made a three to give the Panthers the lead. The Bobcats answered with a long ball of their own, but Pitt-Bradford scored the last 7. Gettings added another layup and free throw, while Murak made a pair of field goals.

The run continued as the game moved into the second quarter, as the Panthers kept the Bobcats off the board for the first 6 minutes of the quarter, while scoring 7 more points. Gettings and Sewell added baskets inside, while Murak sank three free throws. Murak kept the Panthers in front for the remainder of the period, scoring all 6 of their points. She made four of four from the line and added a layup in the stretch, giving the Panthers a 28-17 lead at the break.

The Panthers started the third quarter off with another strong defensive effort, increasing their lead to 19 by keeping the Bobcats scoreless for 4 minutes. Molly Cady and Ella Gettings made midrange jump shots, while Dalayla Alexander made a layup and two from the line. After the Bobcats ended their drought with consecutive threes, Murak and Sewell converted inside to keep the lead in double digits. Leading 42-32 with 1:40 remaining, Amaria Mims scored 5 unanswered to give Pitt-Bradford a 15-point advantage.

In the fourth, the Bobcats made a comeback charge. They cut the lead down to 7 over the first 5 minutes, as the Panthers could only muster a Sewell free throw and an Alexander layup. A Pitt-Greensburg three trimmed the advantage to 6 points, but Murak sank threes on back-to-back possessions, restoring the double-digit advantage. In the final minute The Panthers put the game away with a Sewell layup and a free throw each from Alexander, Murak, and Goss.

Amber Murak led the Panthers with 24 points on 7-21 shooting. She also had 2 assists and 4 steals. Raquel Sewell and Ella Gettings both recorded double-doubles in the win. Gettings scored 12 points and grabbed 10 rebounds, including 8 on the offensive end. Sewell scored 10 points and finished with 13 rebounds. 

The win puts the Panthers final record at 1-23 with an AMCC mark of 1-15. They finish the season tied with the Bobcats for 8th place.
