Panthers Dropped by Gators

Meadville, PA -- The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford women's basketball team opened up 2026 with a road match at Allegheny on Saturday afternoon. The Panthers started slow and could not keep pace with the Gators, eventually losing the contest 101-37.

Pitt-Bradford got on the board early, as Amber Murak drove to the basket for a lay-up to tie the game at two after 80 seconds of play. The hosts shut down the Panther offense for the next three minutes until Milly Cady made a jump shot to cut the deficit to four. The Gator outscored the Panthers 18-2 over the following 5 minutes of play to push their lead to 26-6. In the final minute of the period, Ella Gettings and Dalayla Alexander each made shots to end the first, trailing 28-10.

Murak hit a pair of free throws to open the 2nd quarter, and Alexander sank an early three, but the Panthers failed to maintain their momentum. After an Abby Goss layup, Pitt-Bradford only mustered a pair of Murak layups over the final 7 minutes of the half. In the same span, the hosts scored 22 points and took a 56-21 lead into the break.

The Panthers' drought continued after the restart, and the Gators scored the first 8 points of the half. Cady got the Panthers back on the board, making a jumper off a feed from Stacy Sequiera with 5:50 remaining in the quarter. Allegheny went on another run, scoring 16 in a row before Goss closed the corner with a pair of baskets on assists from Alexander.

In the 4th, Allegheny scored the first four points of the period until Alexander made a layup after two minutes of play. She added a layup, a three, and a free throw in the quarter, while Ella Gettings made a putback layup. The Panthers stepped up defensively in the 4th, limiting the Gators to their lowest output in the game, allowing 21 points, leading to a 101-37 loss.

Dalayla Alexander led the Panthers with 10 points. She also tallied 6 rebounds and 5 assists. Amber Murak added 9 points in the loss, while Abigail Goss scored 6 off the bench. Ella Gettins led the team with 10 rebounds and 3 steals.

The Panthers drop to 0-9 after the loss. They will return to AMCC play on Monday, when they host La Roche at 2:00 p.m. in KOA Arena.
