Alfred, NY -- The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford men's swimming team was back in the pool for a dual meet on Saturday, taking on Alfred University on the road. The Panthers picked up a pair of individual victories in a 207-57 loss.
Duncan Young led the way, picking up one win, a 3rd place finish, and a 4th place finish. He won the 200-yard backstroke, beating the field by nearly 20 seconds. His winning time was 2:08.00. Young added a 3rd place finish in the 100-yard backstroke. He had the top time for the Panthers with a 1:00.47, but finished 10.23 seconds off the pace. He closed by taking 4th place in the 50-yard freestyle. He posted a time of 24.29 seconds in the sprint, but finished 0.92 seconds behind the winner.
Eric Reynolds had the other victory for the Panthers, while also adding a pair of 4th place finishes. Reynolds won the 200-yard breaststroke by .37 seconds, posting a winning time of 2:25.62. In his first race of the day, he finished 4th in the 100-yard breaststroke. He finished the race in 1:08.24 seconds, 10.74 seconds after the winner. He closed the day by competing in the 200-yard individual medley. He once again finished 4th with a time of 2:21.22.
Conan Young was not able to come away with a victory at the meet, but did finish as runner-up in all three of his events. He started in the 200-yard freestyle, where he finished in 1:52.80 seconds. His second race was the 500-yard freestyle. He once again took second, finishing 7.62 seconds behind the winner with a time of 4:58.75. In his final race of the day, Young took second in the 200-yard individual medley. He finished in 2:08.03.
Peyton Haight added a pair of runner-up finishes for the Panthers, as well as a 5th place finish. He began with the long-distance 100-yard freestyle. He posted a time of 11:30.70. He added another runner-up finish in the 200-yard backstroke, where his time of 2:27.74 was only beaten by his teammate, Duncan Young. His last individual race was the 200-yard IM, where he took 5th with a time of 2:25.71.
The two Pitt-Bradford relay teams took 3rd and 4th place in their respective races. The 200-yard medley relay team of Duncan Young, Reynolds, Conan Young, and Tyler took 3rd with a time of 1:50.34. The freestyle relay team of Tyler, Haight, Evan Whitmore, and Luke Kerr finished 4th in 2:04.44.
The Panthers' dual meet record falls to 3-3 after the loss. They will host their final home meet of the season next Saturday against Penn State-Altoona. The Panthers will also celebrate senior day, with the action beginning at 1:00 p.m. in the Duke Aquatic Center.
