Fredonia, NY -- The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford men's and women's swimming teams wrapped up the fall portion of their season on Sunday as they closed competition at Fredonia's Blue Devil Invitational. The Panthers finished the event in 5th (Men's) and 7th (Women's)
After a successful third day, the Pitt-Bradford men's team remained in 5th place with a total of 419 points. The Women's team picked up a few more points and remained in 7th with 47.
Conan Young had the best finish of the day for the Panthers as he was the runner-up in a tightly contested 1650-yard freestyle. Young finished the race with a time of 16:43.26, just three seconds behind the winner. Young was neck and neck for the majority of the 65-lap race, but dropped nearly 2 seconds on the final lap to fall into 2nd. Peyton Haight also swam in the distance race, finishing 14th with a time of 19:15.01.
In the 200-yard backstroke, Duncan Young had a strong finish to the Invitational, taking 9th and winning the second heat in the event. He finished with a time of 2:06.61, winning the race by .51 seconds. It was his season-best time in the event.
Eric Reynolds also won the 2nd heat of his event on Sunday, winning heat two of the 200-yard breaststroke. He posted his best time of the season at 2:21.50. He finished 9th overall.
The women's team had one swimmer qualify for finals, as Carly Evers made the 2nd heat of the 100-yard freestyle. She finished 15th overall with a time of 1:01.28.
The Panthers have wrapped up competition for the Fall semester, and will return to action in the new year as they prepare for the SUNYAC Championships in February. They will be back in action with a home dual meet against Roberts Wesleyan on Saturday, January 10th at 1:00 p.m.
