Erie, PA -- The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford men's swimming team picked up its first dual meet loss of the season on Saturday as they fell to Penn State-Behrend 147-64.
Conan Young picked up maximum points for the Panthers, as he won both of his individual events and was on the highest-scoring 200-yard freestyle relay team. The senior began his day with a dominant performance in the 1000-yard freestyle. Young won the long-distance swim by more than 34 seconds, posting a winning time of 10:26.24. He followed that up with another win in a long event, taking the 500-yard freestyle. Young won this event in 5:01.64, finishing 7.2 seconds ahead of the field. He closed his day with a 24.45-second anchor leg in the 200-yard freestyle relay.
Duncan Young also won an event at the meet. He took the 200-yard backstroke with a time of 2:11.79. Young was .89 seconds ahead of the runner-up. He also added a 2nd place finish in the 400-yard IM. He posted a time of 4:44.50, finishing 2.14 after the winner.
Eric Reynolds took top points in the 200-yard breaststroke, finishing with a time of 2:26.62. He finished just under 4 seconds after the best time that was marked as an exhibition. The Panthers also took top points in the 200-yard freestyle relay. Greg Tyler, Young, Reynolds, and Young finished in 1:41.09 seconds.
The Panthers are now 2-1 on the season. They will be back in action on Nov. 15th with another road dual meet, this time traveling to Allegheny for a matchup with the Gators.
