Panthers Win Second Straight to Begin Campaign

Bradford, PA -- The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford men's swimming team continued its strong start this season on Saturday, defeating Jamestown Community College 90-82.

The Panthers jumped out to an early lead, completing the uncontested 200-yard medley relay and winning the 1000-yard freestyle. The team of Duncan Young, Greg Tyler, Eric Reynolds, and Camden Tetenov finished the relay in 1:57.76. 

Sophomore Peyton Haight added to the lead in the 1000, winning the long-distance race in 11:55.47, 23.6 seconds ahead of his opponents. The lead grew when Conan Young won the 200-yard freestyle, posting a time of 1:55.64. 

The Jayhawks won the next two events, but Young was able to restore some of the lead in the 100-yard butterfly. He finished the race in 59.61 seconds, besting the field by 11.4 seconds to take his second event of the day. 

After Duncan Young (1:03.45) and Haight (1:08.27) took 13 points in the 100-yard backstroke, Conan closed his meet with his third win of the day. Swimming in the 500-yard freestyle, Young posted a time in 5:15.29, 48 seconds ahead of the second-place finisher. 

The Panthers are now 2-0 on the season. They will be back in action on Saturday, Nov. 1, when they travel to Penn State-Behrend for a dual meet.
