Pitt-Bradford Swimmers Set to Begin Season

Bradford, Pa. -- The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford men’s and women’s swimming teams are set to begin their 2021-22 campaign after missing their last season due to COVID-19 mitigation protocols.

“We have a very young team this season, but they are very energetic and excited to compete,” said head coach Chelsea Schwab. “We are a well-balanced squad that hits all stroke specialties, and contains some versatile swimmers that can compete in multiple disciplines.”

The men’s team will be led by returning swimmers Connor Weiss and CJ Faris. Weiss swims the breaststroke, as well as freestyle sprints, while Faris competes in the individual medley and middle distance freestyle events. Newcomers Owen Fitzsimmons, Aiden Wright, and Hunter Deible will all make contributions to the team in multiple events as they begin their collegiate careers.

Adriana Gallas and Lauryn Kahle both return to lead the women’s team. Gallas will compete in the long-distance freestyle events, as well as the breaststroke. Kahle will be involved in the freestyle sprint events. Bailey Fedak will join Kahle in the sprint events, while Anna Killingbeck will swim in the individual medley and backstroke.

The teams will begin their season on Saturday, October 16th as they head to Erie to take on Penn State-Behrend and Medaille in a tri-meet. They return to action in the Paul C. Duke Aquatic Center on Saturday, Oct. 30th, when they host Medaille.
