FREDONIA, N.Y. – The Pitt-Bradford swim teams wrapped up the three-day Fredonia Invitational on Sunday afternoon. The men claimed a seventh place finish with a point total of 269. The women finished in eighth place with 179.5 points.
The Panther swim teams set a total of seven new school records and one Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference record.
Wheeling Jesuit University (Wheeling, W.Va.) took home first place in both the men's and women's categories. The men topped all teams with 752 points, while the women earned the win with 731.5
Penn State Behrend (Erie, Pa.) finished second in the men's category with 683 points. Host SUNY Fredonia claimed third place with a final total of 576. For the women, Oberlin College (Oberline, Ohio) finished in second place with 699.5 points, and Allegheny College (Meadville, Pa.), with 605.5, wrapped up the top three.
Men's records included sophomore Felipe Suntaxi's 50 free event. Freshman Corey Koss broke the 200 back record and the 100 back with a first place finish.
For the women, the 800 free relay team consisting of sophomore Elizabeth Prager, junior Camille Follman, junior Wehonna Toth and freshman Ann Confer, set a new school record by four seconds. The same group competed in the 200 free relay and set a new record in that event as well.
Prager went on to break her old record in the 200 back and also set a new AMCC record in the process.
The women's 400 free relay broke the old record by nearly seven seconds.
"We had seven new school records and one AMCC record in one meet," said head coach Ed Bahan. "We are only half way through the season. We have a very special group of athletes this year."
Pitt-Bradford will break for finals week and the holidays before taking part in its annual training trip at the end of the month. The team will be heading to Tampa, Fla., this year.
