Pitt-Bradford swim teams have strong showing in final home meet

BRADFORD, Pa. - The Pitt-Bradford swim teams finished the season at the Paul C. Duke III Aquatic Center Saturday with mixed results against Alfred State.

The men's team tied Alfred State by the score of 90-90, while the Lady Panthers defeated the Pioneers by a score of 62-22. 

The men put together a strong showing. Pitt- Bradford got off to a hot start with a victory in the 200 medley. The team consisted of Corey Koss, Jeff Cattoni, Felipe Suntaxi and Alex Renwick and swam a 57.62 time to beat the Pioneers time of 1:54.48.

Zack France kept the momentum going for the Panthers in the fourth event with a win in the 1000 free with a time of 10:55.07. The next solo win for Pitt-Bradford came in the 12th event with Suntaxi edging out fellow teammate Renwick by four seconds to take first in the 200 butterfly at 2:02.45.

The individual wins kept coming for the Panthers with Koss winning the 16th event, the 200 back. He clocked in at 1:58.33 to earn the win, and France earned another win in the 18th event, the 500 free with a time of 5:13.45.

The men finished strong with Cattoni taking first in the last solo race, the 200 back. He clocked in at 2:21.44, beating the second place time by 14 seconds. The final win for the men came in the 22nd event with the team of Koss, Renwick, France and Suntaxi coming out on top in the 200 free relay to wrap up the day with a combined time of 1:32.13.

The women claimed victory against Alfred State in six of ten events. Leading the way for the Lady Panthers was Elizabeth Prager in the 1000 free with a time of 11:26.77 to get the first win.

The Lady Panthers ended the meet on top with the team of Elizabeth Prager, Calli Cody, Ann Confer and Wehonna Toth in the 200 yard freestyle relay with a time of 1:47.03.

The swim teams are back in the lanes on Friday, Jan. 30, as they travel to face Penn State Behrend at 5 p.m. in Erie, Pa.
