GROVE CITY, Pa. – The Pitt-Bradford swimming team traveled to Grove City to take part in the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference Championships coming away with 17 total school records.
The first day of competition started Thursday morning with the prelims. The Panthers collected three school records in the first part of the competition.
The women broke the school record for the 200 Freestyle Relay with the team of freshman Ann Confer, junior Wehonna Toth, freshman Alexa Holleran and sophomore Liz Prager clocking in at 1.47.61.
The men shattered the previous 400 Medley Relay by three seconds with a time of 3:34.80. Setting the new school record was the team of freshman Corey Koss, junior Jeff Cattoni, junior Alex Renwick and sophomore Felipe Suntaxi.
Suntaxi went on to break the 50 Freestyle record with a time of 21.83, edging out the previous record by five tenth of a second.
Later that night, the Panthers competed in the finals for day one and broke three more records between the men and women.
The Lady Panthers broke two school records in one race in the 200 Freestyle Relay. Leading off the race, Prager broke the individual 50 Freestyle record at 25.20 and the team of Prager, Toth, freshman Calli Cody and Confer went on to break the 200 Freestyle Relay by two seconds with a time of 1:45.77.
Suntaxi, already breaking the 50 Freestyle record earlier in the day, broke his own record at 21.74 to cap off a great start for the Panthers.
Pitt-Bradford ended day one of the competition with the women in fifth in the AMCC and the men sitting in second in the AMCC.
Friday proved to be a special day for the Panthers as they set seven total records for the day. Pitt-Bradford hit the water earlier Friday morning for the Preliminary races.
Starting off the day for the Panthers was the team of Koss, Cattoni, Renwick and Suntaxi who broke the 200 Medley Relay record by two seconds at 1:38.55.
Suntaxi kept his record breaking performance alive as he broke his previous 100 Butterfly record by two seconds with a time of 51.34.
Koss finished the first part of day two strong for the Panthers as he broke his own 100 Backstroke record with a time of 53.08.
The Panthers followed a strong performance in the morning with a stronger one at night breaking four records in the Finals of day two.
Both men and women broke the school record for the 200 Medley Relay. The women's team of Prager, Holleran, Toth and Confer set a time of 2:00.06 and the men's team of Koss, Cattoni, Renwick and Suntaxi followed their record breaking performance with one of their own clocking in at 1:38.26.
Koss and Suntaxi were not done yet for the day. Koss broke his 100 Backstroke record set previously in the tournament with a time of 52.58 and Suntaxi broke the 100 Freestyle record leading off the 800 Freestyle Relay with a time of 1:45.43 ending a special night for the Panther's swimming teams.
Pitt-Bradford finished day two of the competition with the women tied at fourth in the AMCC and the men second in the AMCC.
Saturday marked the final day of competition for the AMCC Championships. Saturday morning started off with the Panthers breaking two more records.
Suntaxi set another school reacord in the 100 Freestyle with a time of 2:01.74 and Renwick set the 200 Butterfly record with a time of 2:01.74.
The Panthers entered the final part of the competition already having broken 15 combined school records but that was not enough.
The Panthers broke two more school records in the same race. Prager broke the 100 Freestyle record with a time of 55.98 as the team of Prager, Toth, Cody and Confer broke the 400 Freestyle Relay with a time of 3:55.54.
Pitt-Bradford finished the AMCC Championships with the men coming in second and the women finished in fourth. Combined the Panthers shattered 17 school records in what was an amazing performance.
