Panthers Men's And Women's Soccer To Host Franciscan For Pivotal AMCC Action Saturday

BRADFORD, Pa. -- The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford men's and women's soccer teams return home Saturday to host Franciscan for pivotal Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference matches. 

The Pitt-Bradford women's team welcomes the Barons with a 2-3-1 record in AMCC action, good for sixth place in the conference. Franciscan is one spot ahead of the Panthers in the standings with a conference record of 3-2.

Pitt-Bradford is coming off a tough loss at Penn State-Behrend Tuesday but came away with wins in both of its games last week.

Led by AMCC Offensive Player of the Week Courtney Shade, the Panthers erupted for a 9-0 win against Hilbert last Wednesday and a came through with a thrilling 3-2 comeback win against La Roche Saturday.

Shade scored four goals against Hilbert and one against La Roche for five on the week. She also assisted one in each contest. For her offensive outburst, she was nominated for's D3 Women's Soccer HERO of the Week.

So far this season, Shade's eight goals lead the team and rank fifth in the AMCC. Her 19 total points are fourth-most in the AMCC as well.

Meghan Stuck is second on the team with four goals and three assists for 11 points. Grace Dadzaa has scored three goals while Jasmine Adams has a pair of goals on the season.

In goal, Emily Bethel is third in the conference with 104 saves.

On the men's side, Pitt-Bradford enters the weekend with a 2-4 AMCC record for sixth place, one spot below Franciscan (2-2).

Pitt-Bradford is coming off back-to-back losses, first against La Roche Saturday and most recently at Penn State-Behrend Tuesday.

Prior, though, the Panthers strung together a pair of conference shutout victories at Penn State-Altoona (Sept. 29) and against Hilbert (Oct. 3).

Last week, the Panthers were led by Ugwunna Amadi, who scored a pair of goals against Hilbert and another against La Roche.

On the season, Chase Rider continues to lead the team with five goals, while Amadi and Ryuta Hayakawa have three apiece.

Hayakawa's six assists are third-most in the AMCC.

Franciscan's women's team is led by Emily Wieszczek's four goals and Elizabeth Dawyot's AMCC-leading six assists.

The Barons' men's team is led by Mikey Irvin scoring five goals and Sebastian Koehler scoring four. As a team, Franciscan's 26 goals are the third-most in the conference this season.

Saturday's action is set to begin with the women's matchup at 1 p.m. followed by the men's game around 3:15 p.m.
