Men's Lacrosse Primed for Season Two

Bradford, PA – The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford men’s lacrosse team is preparing for their second consecutive season, looking to build on a strong inaugural campaign. The Panthers will face a new challenge this season, as they have moved to the United East for conference competition.

The Panthers went 5-8 in their first season of NCAA competition under the direction of head coach Scotty Gwyn. They were led by their stout defense and goalkeeping, which finished last season 32nd in the NCAA in caused turnovers per game and 12th in saves per game.

The Panthers placed 4 players on the AMCC All-Conference team last season, two of which return for the 2023-26 campaign. Midfielder Reid Kristufek leads the attack, as he scored 15 goals and assisted 4 others last season. The Panthers’ defense is bolstered by All-AMCC Selection Alex Arno, who was 4th in the conference in caused turnovers, and his classmate Nick Hause. In goal, the Panthers will look to returners Hunter Shank and Evan Stack mind the net.

“We’re very lucky to have returned a strong core group from our first year of competition,” said Gwyn. “With the new firepower and energy from the first-year class, we should be able to build upon our strength in net to create more opportunities.

After one season in the AMCC, the Panthers have moved to the United East for their conference competition. In the new league they will face St. Mary’s (MD), Penn College, Cairn, and Notre Dame of Maryland. The Panthers were predicted to finish 3rd in the conference’s annual Preseason Coaches’ Poll.

The Panthers begin their season with a road trip to Bethany on Feb. 14. They open their home slate on Feb.21, when they host Washington & Jefferson. Conference Play begins Mar. 28th against Notre Dame of Maryland.
