Bradford, PA -- The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford men's lacrosse program spent some time at School Street Elementary School in Bradford, teaching their sport to the school's fifth-grade class.
The Panthers reviewed the game's history with the students and demonstrated essential skills for playing it. Some of the skills reviewed were scooping, cradling, passing, catching, and shooting. After the demonstration by the Pitt-Bradford players, a few volunteers had the opportunity to try some of the skills showcased.
"Lacrosse is one of the fastest growing sports in the country," said head coach Scotty Gwyn. "Not only does this help spread both the men's and women's game to the local youth, but it will help foster our program's relationship with the local community."
The Panthers finished the event with a trick shot competition between the players and coaches Jarred Tabor and Tyrone Bowen-Collateta, who is currently student-teaching at the school.
