Panthers Set Program Mark at Thiel Spring Invite, Finish 2nd

Hermitage, PA -- The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford golf team set a new program record on Monday as they battled cold and blustery conditions to post a team score of 294 at the Thiel Spring Invitational. They finished 2nd overall, just 2 strokes behind the winners, Washington & Jefferson.

The Panthers bested the previous record, a team score of 299 at the 2019 Pitt-Bradford Fall Invitational, by 5 strokes. 

Pitt-Bradford was led by Michael Peterson, who finished the round with a one-over par 71. He carded 4 birdies on the round, finishing in a three-way tie for 2nd. He was 2 strokes behind the winner, who carded a 1-under par 69. Just behind him was Evan Steffen, who posted a score of 72 to shoot 2-over par. He took 5th. Nathan Close shot a 5-over 75, putting him in 11th place. Brady Susi rounded out the scoring for Pitt-Bradford, finishing at 76 to take 15th place. Max Bizzak missed out on a scoring position for the Panthers, shooting an 83 to finish tied for 37th. Drew Heinze played as an individual and also shot an 83. Peterson, Steffen, and Susi all set season and career records, while Close tied his best collegiate score. 

The Panthers have one more tournament this year, as they will take on Penn State-Altoona on Monday, April 20th.
