Panthers Cut 6 strokes, but Fall to 5th at Pennsylvania Classic

Bradford, PA -- The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford golf team was back on the Blue Course at Penn State on Sunday as they closed play at the Pennsylvania Spring Classic. They improved on their strong score from round one, posting a 311, but dropped to fifth place.

The Panthers started the day in 2nd place, 3 strokes off of Allegheny in first. While the team cut 6 total strokes from their team score, they could not keep pace with teams from Washington & Jefferson, Penn State-Altoona, and Mount Aloysius, who all posted sub-300 scores to jump into the top three positions.

Evan Steffen paced Pitt-Bradford, posting a score of 1-over 73 to secure a top-10 finish. He finished the front nine in 38 strokes, and then finished with 2 birdies to shoot a 1-under par 35 on the back nine. Michael Peterson and Brady Susi each shot 77s in the round. Peterson finished tied for 24th at +11, while Susi was a stroke behind at -12 in 34th. Max Bizzak shot a 2nd-round 78, putting him in a tie with Peterson. Nathan Close missed out on a scoring position, shooting an 84. He finished the tournament in  85th place. Dillon Georgi played as an independent, posted a score of 85 in the 2nd round, and was in 94th place overall.

The Panthers are scheduled to be back in action on Monday, April 6th, when they compete in the Thiel Classic. Tee times begin at 12:30 p.m.
