State College, PA -- The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford men's golf team kicked off the spring portion of its 2025-26 schedule on Saturday as they teed it up at the Pennsylvania Spring Classic at Penn State Blue Course in State College. The Panthers battled adverse weather conditions, the course, and the field to post a team score of 311, which put them in 2nd place after the first round.
The Panthers finished 3 strokes behind the leaders, Allegheny, and 3 ahead of a trio of opponents at 314.
Pitt-Bradford was led by Max Bizzak and Evan Steffen, who each posted 5-over par 77s. Bizzak carded a pair of birdies, while also registering 1 of the 2 eagles on the course throughout the day. He shot a 40 on the front, and closed with a 37 on the back nine. Stedffen had three birdies on the day, going out at 39 and coming in at 38. They are each tied for 15th.
Just behind the pair was Michael Peterson, who is in 23rd at 6-over. He had 2 birdies in the round and was at or one-over par throughout the day. Brady Susi rounded out the scoring for Pitt-Bradford with a 7-over 79. He is tied for 31st.
Nathan Close missed out on one of the scoring positions, finishing at 12-over with an 84. Playing as an individual, Dillon Georgi shot an 86.
The Panthers will tee off in the final set of groupings tomorrow, scheduled to begin at 12:00 p.m.
