State College, PA -- The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford golf team completed its time at the AMCC Championship Tournament on Tuesday, finishing in 4th place. The Panthers shot a 330 on day two, finishing the event with a team score of 644. Freshman Evan Steffen finished the event at 5-over par to take 2nd place.
The Panthers started the day in 3rd, but fell one spot after Pitt-Greensburg posted a 306 to move up two spots in the final standings. The Panthers' score of 644 was 31 strokes behind the winners, Mount Aloysius, who posted a score of 613.
Freshman Evan Steffen used a strong close to the event to secure the runner-up medal. He completed the event at 149, two strokes behind the winner. Steffen finished the front 9 with a pair of birdies to post a 1-over 37 at the turn. He bogeyed three of the next four holes, but shot the final 5 holes 2-under par. The round was capped by a birdie on 18, which moved him into sole possession of 2nd place. He was named to the All-Tournament Team.
Michael Peterson shot an 82 in round 2, bringing his two-day total to 157. He finished tied for 10th. Max Bizzak posted an 88 in the second round. His total of 168 put him in a tie for 21st. Brady Susi shot an 86 in round two and finished the event with a score of 170. He was tied for 26th. Nathan Close missed out on a scoring position, posting a 90 in round 2. His two-day total was 175, putting him in 29th place.
The Panthers have one more event scheduled this fall. Next week, they will head to Ohio to play in the Region V Championship. The two-day event will be held at Catawba Island Resort and will begin on Monday, Oct. 20th.
