Sparta, Ill. -- The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford Clays Target team finished competition at the Collegiate Fall Midwest Conference Championship on Sunday. Competing in the American Trap discipline, the Panthers finished in 8th place with a score of 479.
In the American trap session, five shooters stand in a line and shoot clay pigeons launched one at a time from a single machine, located in a low trap house in front of them. The targets fly away from the shooters at varying, oscillating angles. The shooters rotate through five stations.
The Panthers had their best session at the event, hitting 479 targets, putting them in 8th.
Jaydon Schwab and Nathan Wilczak led Pitt-Bradford, each hitting 98 clays. Levi Merrill was third at 95, while Orin Pontious and Andrew Magee rounded out the scoring by posting scores of 94. Konnor Eck finished at 91, while Ben McCrory shot a 77.
The Panthers will host their first-ever event this Saturday at the Bradford Gun Club. More information on opponents, sessions, and times will be released early this week.
