Johnstown, PA -- The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford baseball team opened its AMCC slate on Saturday as it took on Pitt-Greensburg at Sargent's Stadium at the Point in Johnstown. The Panthers struggled to find their footing in the opener, falling 10-0, and then lost the lead late in the nightcap to lose 7-5.
Game One: Pitt-Greensburg 10 - Pitt-Bradford 0
In the opener, the Panthers fell behind early and could not make up the difference against the Bobcats' ace, who limited Pitt-Bradford to just 3 hits in a 10-0 loss.
Maddox Stadler got the start for the Panthers and ran into early trouble. The first three Bobcats reached, with two of their hits going for extra bases, giving the hosts a 2-0 lead before an out was recorded. Stadler settled down after the 2nd run scored, retiring the next three batters to avoid further damage.
After a quick 2nd inning, Pitt-Greensburg tacked on 4 more in the 3rd. Stadler hit a batter and allowed a single and 3 doubles, which pushed the deficit to 6. He was replaced by Patrick Synan, who effectively ended the inning with two strikeouts and a flyball.

Following a leadoff walk in the 7th, Porter was lifted for Jake Sherdel. Sherdel loaded the bases with another free pass and a bunt single, but picked up an out on a shallow fly ball to left. He was nearly out of the inning with just one run allowed, but a two-out single up the middle drove in a pair, cutting the lead to 1.
Pitt-Bradford put two runners on base in the top of the 8th on singles by Obergfell and Colwell, but could not take advantage, as Alex Ognen's sinking liner to right was caught by a diving outfielder. The play would come back to haunt the Panthers as the hosts rallied to score 3 times in the bottom of the frame. Sherdel quickly retired the first two batters of the inning, but then saw the frame extended on back-to-back singles to center.
