Bradford, PA -- The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford swimming teams paired with the McKean County Special Olympics last week to host the organization's 2026 Swimming Invitational.
The swim programs work with local Special Olympics athletes on Sundays in January and February, leading up to the March meet. Nearly 90 Special Olympians competed at the event, which has been hosted at Pitt-Bradford annually.
"This is one of the best events we have all year. The meet not only provides a service to our community but also allows our student-athletes to make great connections with Special Olympics athletes. "The smiles from all involved, including the students, the athletes, the volunteers, and families, make any amount of work worth the result."
Along with the swim meet, Pitt-Bradford athletics also pairs with the McKean County Special Olympic chapter for Bowling with a Buddy in the fall, and has hosted the organization for baseball/softball, soccer, and basketball events.
