Pitt-Bradford Clays Participates in Program’s First Event

Sparta, Ill. – The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford Clays Target team participated in the program's ever event on Friday, competing in the Fall Central Midwest Conference Championship.

On the first day of the three-day competition, the Panthers participated in two disciplines, Doubles Skeet and Doubles Trap. In Doubles skeet, the shooter must hit two clay targets, released simultaneously from the high and low houses, using two shots. In the doubles trap portion, the targets are launched simultaneously from one trap house, flying in opposite directions.

In the Doubles Skeet competition, the Panthers placed 9th with a team score of 193/250. Nathan Wilczak led the way, hitting 45 of 50 targets. Jaydon Schwab was next with a score of 41, while Orin Pontious was one target behind at 40. Andrew Magee posted a score of 36, and Levi Merrill shot a 35. Ben McCrory just missed out on scoring positions and was tied with Merrill at 35, and Konnor Eck posted a 26.

In the Doubles Trap portion of the competition, Pitt-Bradford shot a 209 to place 8th. Pontious had the high score for Pitt-Bradford at 47, while Wilczak posted another 45. Merrill and McCrory each shot 40. Jaydon Schwab posted a score of 37. Andrew Magee also shot a 37, while Konnor Eck hit 27 targets.

"I'm really impressed with how we performed in our first competition," said Head Coach Jeff Cattoni. "This was the first time they ever shot 50 skeet doubles in competition; they were all focused and did a great job."

The Panthers will be back in action on Saturday, as they participate in two more disciplines, American Skeet and Sporting Clays.
