Clays Target Team Back in Action for Day Two of CFCM Conference Championship

Sparta, Ill -- The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford Clays Target team was back on the range for the second day of action at the Collegiate Fall Central Midwest Conference Championship in Illinois. The Panthers competed in two formats, Skeet and Sporting Clays, finishing 13th and 14th in the sessions.

The first session of the day was in American Skeet, with 100 shots. In this discipline, shooters stand at eight different stations on a semi-circular field, firing at clay targets launched from the two houses. As a team, the Panthers finished in 13th with a score of 420. They were led by Nathan Wilczak, who hit 89 of 100 targets. Levi Merrill was just behind him at 87. Andrew Magee posted an 83, while Konner Eck was two targets behind. Jaydon Schwab rounded out the Pitt-Bradford scoring at 80. Ben McCrory also shot an 80, while Orin Pontious finished at 74.

In the afternoon session, the Panthers moved into Sporting Clays. In this discipline, shooters rotate through various stations, firing at clay targets launched from different angles and distances, meant to simulate a hunting experience. The Panthers finished this session in 14th place with a score of 301. Merrill led the Panthers with a score of 67. Wilczak and Schwab were three strokes behind with scores of 64. Magee posted a 57, while Pontious closed out the scoring with a 49. McCrory and Eck missed out on the scoring positions, posting round scores of 47 and 44.

The Panthers remain in Illinois for one more night, as they will compete in one final session tomorrow. They will compete in the American Trap discipline, with the action beginning at 9:00 a.m.
