UNIVERSITY HEIGHTS, Ohio – The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford wrestling team competed in the John Carroll Duals Sunday.
Pitt-Bradford went 0-4, falling to Lourdes (29-15), Waynesburg (31-9), Urbana (32-15) and John Carroll (42-6).
"I think the guys competed really hard today," Head Coach Colin Johnston said. "We had some really good wins individually today, but just came up a little short on the team score."
Mitch Dowd was the top performer for in his weight class for the entire event, the only wrestler competing in the 197 class to go 4-0 on the day.
Dowd (197) won, 13-2, while Sam Colebert (285) won on a 13-8 decision.
Against Urbana in round three, Hernandez (125) took a win by forfeit, while Ridgeway (165) won 8-3 and Nick DiStefano (174) grabbed an 8-6 decision.
Dowd (197) then won his third match of the day, a 6-1 decision.
Then against the host John Carroll, Dowd was credited with the lone victory for Pitt-Bradford, coming by forfeit. Hernandez gave his opponent a competitive match but ended up falling short, 5-3.
Up next, Pitt-Bradford will compete in the RIT Invitational Saturday, Dec. 1.
