BUFFALO, N.Y. -- The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford women's bowling team competed in the opening day of first Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference Round Robin Saturday hosted by Hilbert.
The Panthers hold fifth place after the opening day with a record of 1-2 and a total pinfall of 3,421.
"We bowled well today," Interim Head Coach Gregg Hoover said. "We filled a lot of frames with marks, but had some issues when the lanes broke down late. Our overall baker average keeps improving."
Medaille holds the top spot (3-0) with Mount Aloysius (2-2), New Jersey City (2-1) and Saint Vincent (2-1) trailing closely.
Penn State-Altoona (1-3) and Hilbert (0-3) follow the Panthers in the standings.
Pitt-Bradford started the day rolling an 862 against the 'bye' position, then defeated Hilbert using that same score of 862 to best the Hawks' 725.
Mount Aloysius then handed the Panthers' their first defeat of the event, 960-899, despite Pitt-Bradford's top single game of the day.
The Panthers closed out the day against New Jersey City and fell, 843-798.
Pitt-Bradford will resume action Sunday morning.
