WARREN, Ohio -- The University of Pittsburgh men's golf team finished day one of the two-day Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference Championships tied for fourth place with a team score of 314.
Penn State-Behrend holds the lead at 295 while Penn State-Altoona is second at 312. Medaille holds third place at 313 and La Roche is tied with the Panthers one stroke back from Medaille.
"We're in great shape heading into tomorrow," Head Coach Keith Stauffer said. "At just two strokes out of second place, that would be an outstanding season for this young team. If each player can tighten their game up tomorrow, we will definitely move up the leaderboard."
Cary Ignaczak earned the second-lowest recorded score at 72 to lead the Panthers, two strokes out from the leaders.
Brett Gardner rounded out the scoring for the Panthers with an 83, tied for 21st.
The tournament team champion will receive the AMCC's automatic bid to the NCAA tournament which will be held May 15-18 in Greensboro, N.C.
