BRADFORD, Pa. -- Sophomore libero Laura Hildebrand of the University of Pittsburgh at Bradford women's volleyball team has been named a Pitt-Bradford Athlete of the Week for her performance during the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference playoffs.
Hildebrand anchored the Panthers' defense to a First Round win over No. 6 Medaille in straight sets Wednesday, followed by a sweep of No. 2 Mount Aloysius in the semifinals Saturday.
She then came through with 20 digs in a thrilling five-set comeback win at and against top-seeded Penn State-Behrend Sunday in the AMCC Championship match.
Along the way, she made some key diving stops to keep balls in play and help the Panthers mount their comeback.
Now, the State College, Pa., native and her squad head to the NCAA Tournament where they will take on Thomas More in the First Round Friday hosted at Juniata College.
In the playoffs, Hildebrand had 54 digs, bringing her season total to 617.
For her performance, she was named to the AMCC Championship All-Tournament Team.
