BRADFORD, Pa. -- Junior catcher Austin Parent of the University of Pittsburgh at Bradford baseball team has been named a Pitt-Bradford Athlete of the Week for his performance during the final week of the season.
The Gilbert, Ariz., native belted three home runs last week on his way to recording 10 RBIs, 10 runs scored and a stellar 1.300 slugging percentage to lead the Panther offense in a crucial week.
He went 12-for-20 (.600) in five games and had seven extra-base hits while drawing four walks and recording a perfect fielding percentage behind the plate.
On Sunday, he hit his eighth home run of the season, tying the Panthers' single-season home run record. Parent went on to break that record with a three-run shot Monday afternoon.
Parent finished the season leading the AMCC in batting average (.496), on-base percentage (.616) and slugging percentage (.916). He ranks top-three nationally in each category, leading the nation in on-base percentage.
His 48 RBIs are second-most in the AMCC and his 47 runs scored are third most.
