BRADFORD, Pa. -- Freshman Aria Alston-Smith of the University of Pittsburgh at Bradford women's basketball team has been named a Pitt-Bradford Athlete of the Week for her performance during the period of Dec. 3-10.
Alston-Smith wreaked havoc on opposing offenses this week, grabbing 12 total steals.
Wednesday, she led the team with seven steals, but none bigger than her takeaway with the game tied at 74-74 with 1:01 left to play, which led to a Shaelyn Snipes layup to give Pitt-Bradford a lead from which it would never look back.
On the offensive side of the ball, she scored a career-high 15 points in Saturday's road win at AMCC rival Franciscan. 10 of her 15 points came in the fourth quarter, as she went a perfect 4-4 from the field with a three-pointer in the period.
